I've had this up for sale before, and ended up deciding to keep it. Since then, I've never once used it, as it's kept in Seattle and I'm down in California.
The reason I'm selling is that my main bass, a Tobias Renegade 5 with a Bartolini preamp, is so similar to this that I find that I tend to go to it because it's like home. That bass has 10 years of blood, sweat, and tears (and one stolen/rescue experience recently) from gigs, woodshedding, etc in it. This bass, which has nicer componentry, a much nicer brand new finish, and is in waaaaay better condition, just never gets used.
I bought it because I thought I'd want a backup. Turns out I do want a backup, but I want a beat up, nasty backup. This bass is too nice for me to muck up.
Specs:
- original Bartolini pickups
- Demeter 3-band preamp (great, great pre)
- Hipshot A bridge
- Hipshot Ultralite tuners
- Beautiful trans aqua-blue finish. Looks incredible in person!
- Alder body, maple/maple neck
- Frets have zero wear
This bass was never taken to gigs, etc, so it's been more or less a case queen. It sounds incredible, but it just feels like cheating on my girlfriend to me!
The other reason I'm selling is I'm trying to pare down to the bare essentials, with med school coming up so I need to both save and minimize my equipment. Otherwise I wouldn't sell this!
These are definitely my favorite basses, despite having played and owned everything you can imagine. They just sound and feel right to me, and this one is no exception. It's by far the nicest Renegade in existence!!
$900 + half shipping takes it. I can't remember if it's in a proper Tobias hardcase or another very high quality hardcase. I think I got rid of the other hardcase though, so I think it's now in a proper Tobias hardcase. I'll include an extra set of Zon nickels or steels.
Please feel free to ask me any questions!
Sorry for the awful pictures:
