Today I....

I spanked my kids today for for having no manners and making jokes in public about buying guns to keep illegals from driving badly on the roads, and oh yeah, P-basses suck.

I could care less....

Or I should care less....

You tell me what the hell is wrong with me. Or America. Or Talkbass....

....I dare you....:(

I know how you feel. I have four kids and though it seems like an uphill battle, we parents are all they really have to look up to for guidance. But sometimes a good smack wakes them up. I recall a Sinbad routine where he asked his kids about something they did wrong, and they couldn't remember. He said it was amazing how their memory returned after a good whallop.

Hitting kids is not the same as spanking them. Occasionally kids need to be woke up. Simply talking to them like they were sitting in a lecture hall doesn't make it sink in.

As far as what's wrong with America? Individuals make up America. So it's up to individuals to start with themselves, and then their families, then their friends, neighbors, etc. But it all starts with you. To find what's wrong with America, we all need to look in the mirror.

So don't beat yourself up over it. Parents need to take control of their children and point them in the right direction, instead of just being buddies with them. WE are their only true role models.

Why should you care? Look at your kids. They are our future. How they think is how they will be. Someone needs to start caring, so it might as well be us parents.

Kudos to you for correcting them.

I'd give you a gold star for that! Too many parents don't have the discipline to apply discipline these days, and let their kids do whatever. When I was a kid, I got whacked if I was doing something unsafe or inappropriate. I would encourage the rest of the parents out there to do the same. I never got beat, but I did get whacked...and it worked. So congrats to you for having the courage to do what was right! :hyper:

Good for you, man. As others have said, there's a difference between beating and spanking. A friend of mine used to have a paddle called "The board of education. Directions: Apply to the seat of learning." Not a big fan of using something to spank a child, but I found it funny.
