Just wanna say the luthier's corner is the best of talkbass. I poach knowledge from all your threads constantly.
I dream of someday building basses/guitars from lumber. Right now I am learning and working on portions of the whole. I purchased this bass for $60 in poor shape. It had some badly worn frets in some areas. After a few months I decided to attempt a re-fret. If it worked, awesome!. If not, I would happily yank them and go fretless. I went on the cheap. Most off eBay coming from overseas for a couple bucks. I polished up and got it all back together today. Comfortable and plays well with no buzz (after knocking down some high spots) with a 1.75-2mm string height at the 12th. I'm gaining confidence and a router. I hope to start working towards my own build in the next year or two.
