I enjoyed seeing the guitar parts broken down in this video. Sure we're bass players but this is really cool. I also think Alex is one of the nicest people on the planet.

You are correct about that. Alex never let the whole rock star thing go to his head. He is a funny and very genuine fellow that happens to be loaded with talent.

It's funny when Alex talks about selling off gear through the years( so many of us do). He says he should have kept everything and he would be a rich man. Haha, I believe he is already pretty well off. But it sounds like something one of us would say. Alex is definitely down to earth.
Thanks for posting. One of the best instructional videos I've seen. I'd love to see Geddy dissect some of his bass lines, like this.
I'll search for some. For now: here's a pretty cool one of Geddy talking about his Jazz bass(Original Vs. MIJ Vs. USA Signatures) His #1 is a $200 Pawn Shop find but did get a custom shop neck upgrade.

Man, you gotta watch Time Stand Still. Those guys are genuinely kind to each other all the time. It was refreshing to watch a documentary about a band of guys who just care for each other and respect each other.

Got it...Beyond The Lighted Stage is a must-see, too.
I can't think of a more down to earth sounding group of guys who conquered the world playing rock n roll.
Alex takes his work very seriously. But, he doesn't take himself all that seriously. He seems very grounded and would be a lot of fun to be around.

WOW......Thanks for sharing. I have never before seen an interview with Alex, but am so impressed after seeing this one. Such an awesome player, and a down to earth guy who just about anybody can relate to. Rush are such awesome and talented musicians. I have an even greater respect now after watching this interview with Mr. Lifeson. Thanks again for sharing!!!!

The same could be said for Neil and Geddy.
Geddy has always been my hero and inspiration for playing bass... and a lot of RUSH! With the internet, and other mediums, our heroes have been made more 'accessible' to the masses than ever before... we still only see what RUSH and the camera allows, which is plenty cool by me. What they have given me is some pretty awesome music, and through their charities and humanitarian efforts, hopefully have made the world a little bit better place to live, for those not as fortunate.
... from what I've seen, I can relate more to Alex, than Geddy, regarding their personalities, especially their sense of humor... and man, was I wrong about Peart...

That's the kind of band we start out thinking we're going to be in. I heard the drummer from Aerosmith tell a story once about how how he was walking with Joe Perry one day. He was kind of pumped about how Aerosmith was getting off the ground and he said something to the effect of "how cool is it that we can do this? Just 5 friends playing music and being stars." He said Joe looked right at him and said, "why do we need to be friends?" I think regardless of your level or your band situation we all hear this or something similar at one point. It's disheartening, at least to me sometimes. I think Rush has something to be both grateful for and very proud of. Very refreshing not to hear the money squabbles and Dick moves most bands are plauged with.
