Can anyone ID the bass in the Riverboat concert ? Theres a bit of info on Tommy's website about his basses ( P's, J's, Fender Deluxe , Fodera, Ibanez, JT customs ) but he doesnt specifically name the Black n White bass in the vid below.

Just need to ease ma mind a tad

getting confusin'...

On the Robin site under " guitars " there are no basses, but under the " artist " section, Tommy is listed as having a FREEDOM bass, but theres nothing on the site about them. There certainly isnt a 6 string guitar version in the drop down model list

I guess the basses could be old, well 90's anyways ( is that old )

Its definately a freedom bass - i had a looksee on the Robin forums and did a search. Came up with this link, and it shows the exact shape of Tommy's bass, just different colours

BUt thanks to the guys who pointed us to the Robin guitars website. I would never have known at all, as i've never heard of them

Wow - the secrecy is a bit strange. Not like its a collectable high price fetching piece of exotica. Theres just one on US Fleabay at the moment going for $350.

I guess theres not a lot about, but i cant see why they dont list the up and coming re-issue on the site

On another weird note in the link below, someone states the guy's fretless Robin Freedom was made in Japan by ESP ?

So Robin didnt even make basses - just farmed them out ?

yeah BigTex - i delved a little deeper on the website and found that bit. Seems though that their QC went a little haywire and Wintz went to ESP and had them made by them in Japan, and after that , it went domestic, but apparently, not the freedom bass. That was never a domestic bass, so they say.

I read another bit that said Wintz started Allparts too

I know a lady who's father owned a music store with Tommy Shannon's father at one time. She has always been friends and/or acquainted to several Texas musicians in the 1980s and 1990s. She recently offered me a black Robin bass with a white pickguard for a price I can't refuse. She claims the bass was Tommy Shannon's, and the one he played on the Live Alive recording.
I'm not sure how to go about this, but is there anyway to confirm that this was Tommy's bass? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
