Tonal Differences Between Gibson/Epiphone Thunderbird, Embassy Pro and SG?

Hi all,

I'm struggling to find tonal comparisons between the Thunderbird, Embassy Pro and SG. Plenty of physical and spec descriptions/comparisons to be found, but not tonal. Anyone A/B/C'd or A/B'd any of these? If so, please describe. How they sit in a live and recorded mix would be helpful, too. Thanks.

For starters, which Thunderbird? Between Gibson and Epi there are several models, each of which sits a bit differently in the audio spectrum.

That's true. I'm aware of that. Any comparison would do. I'm guessing that the various T-birds are more similar to each other than any one of them are to an Embassy or SG. But maybe not. Hoping for any comparison.

Actually, the Vintage Pro / 60s / 64 Thunderbirds and the latest Gibson NR birds[1] will sound closer to the Embassy (and original reverse Thunderbirds)[2] than they will to the Classic Pro or modern Vintage Thunderbirds (darker)[3] , or the Epi Thunderbird IV variants and 70s and special Epi & Gibson reverse Thunderbirds (all over the map).

The first and second groups will give you decent to great bass depending on the exact model, good mids and highs. The The third group will give you lots of lows and low mids, good high mids, and decent highs.

That's not even touching the artist models and active pickup models. I can't help with the SG.
