Tone cap question

I have a passive PJ bass and I've been experimenting different cap values. I notice there is a lot of bass that comes through with the .022uf cap. I don't get that maximum bass with the
0.1uf and .047uf caps. Anybody know why the bass is so great with the .022uf cap? I thought the caps only affected the treble. all the pots are 500K. all the caps are Mallory 150's

had no idea cap values changed the tone so drastically. The P pickup is thumping through the walls and the J pickup mids are growling loud. It almost sounds like I installed a preamp. that cap is gonna stay for awhile. only cost $0.99 :D
