Tone knobs on Jazz Basses - how much are they actually USED?

I have a Fender Performer which was intended as the de-luxe successor to the Jazz bass.

The tone works in a very different way, so the mid-position is closer to a Jazz all the way up, and the high/low positions are more extreme.

I have a Peavey head with 12-band EQ + para-Q, when I was gigging I set it and left it for the sound I want (generally scooped out a bit in the middle). Tone changes are usually instrument or pickup swaps plus a vintage Boss Bass EQ pedal for 'solos'. Hardly ever used tone controls.

Had a Hohner Jazz copy felt it had a decent JB sound but found it a bit puny and gave it to my bro'.

The Bourns blend pot or fader pot has a center indent for knowing where both pickups are on full.

The issue is not about whether they are equal volume but both running at 100% rather than fifty-fifty.

2 out of 7 of my basses don’t have a tone knob. Thanks Eddie Van Halen.
The other are dimed all the time.

I noticed and no. You'll have to check in with TonyP for a fanny pack. Either that or have Army weld one together for you. Kind of a Tin Man's fanny pack.

Yes, it was a nice Christmas. Spent yesterday playing with my 1 year old grand daughter. She's a hoot.

I keep my tone know around 75 % so it's not too bright (JB 70's) and most of the time I go with both pickups at full volume unless the song I'm playing requires a different sound.
