Tone Pot Changes Volume Range?

Hi guys, I just put some new humbucker style pickups in my PRS Kingfisher bass. I noticed that if I turn the *tone* pot down then I my volume range adjustments become much more limited than when the tone is all the way up. The pots are all stock Alpha 500k audio taper and the tone cap is .047. Is this normal behavior? How can I make the volume adjustment more even when the tone is down? Thanks!

Look for the pick up wiring diagram on line. The Seymour Duncan SSB-4 pups I installed use 250k pots. And the stock pots in my Kingfisher were not good quality. Good pots aren't expensive. I recommend changing them out once you establish you have the correct type.

check that the capacitor isn't getting grounded out to the pot body on the leg that is soldered to the pot-lug
