tone question

So I just recorded on my p bass for the first time, and now I finally understand why you need the p. I fell in love with the tone I got from the d.I. and so on, so ni asked my producer what my eq was like and he said he didn't change anything yet, and I let it go. My question in how can I get that same clear tone he has on his computer out of my amp. I run an ampeg 4x12 with a tube head.

Check out some 3-way PA speaker type fullrange cabs. You won't get exactly a studio monitor or headphone type sound live but it'll get you closer than a oneway bass cab that adds more color to the sound.

And yeah I use my P live for the same reason. It just sounds fatter in the right places especially if you find yourself having to use a dry DI or less that stellar PA system.
