Tone Questions

First, I wasn't sure where to post this thread, so I stuck it here. I was wondering if people had some tips on a few different tones and how to get them, whether it be EQ, effects, playing technique, etc. So...ya...

Also, I have a P/J pickup configuration and one tone pot, so tips on which pickup to use and where to set the tone knob would be nice, too.

Boost the hi mids on your amp a lot. all those guys have a lot of high mids in their sound. For RATM run both pickups full vol, with a boost in the high mids and highs. A slight dist. with a pedal will help also. For green day, cut the J pickup quite a bit (I think his model fender is a P bass)and keep the same hi mid / high boost on the amp. For RHCP dial back the P pickup and run mostly the J. Roll back the highs a little on th amp and keep the mids bumped up. Play with the bass boost an the bass a little but not much. Keep the lows about 12:00 on the amp. Your bass according to the chart on th ibanez site has a dip in the mid / high mids. Unfortunately,that's where you want the boost around 700-1k . If you boost the lows too much the mids will get lost, so be care ful there, but play around with it. You'll get something in the ball park.
