Tone Settings for Upcoming Gig

I'm playing a show this next Wednesday and I'm looking for some tone suggestions. I'm using a Mesa Boogie M-Pulse 600 w/ 4x10 Mesa Cabinet. I usually try to utilize the Graphic EQ and compression as well. I'm also using a 2007 American Jazz Bass w/ flat-wound strings

I've been trying to dial in a tone that captures the genre. The genre is characterized as "minimal wave".The bandleader is very influenced by The Smiths, Joy Division, and Electronic Dance Music. I posted a link to the music below. Let me know!

Eh, just start turning knobs till it sounds good. Specific settings never work because of your bass and the way you play...everyone is different.

If you have never played the venue before, be prepared to compensate for the room. Are you going to have FOH support? Will you get a sound check?

When we do a new venue, I try to start out with a good clean tone that can be heard well, not too boomy, with boosted mids. Then I adjust from there.

With my Monique, it's pretty easy, Bass - Mid - Treble - Sensitivity.

I keep an fDeck HPF3 on my gig rig, as it comes in handy.

I guess what I am suggesting is to try to start off with a clean, mid-boosted neutral tone and adjust over the first few songs.

You want "smooth synthy" for want of better description? I would get rid of 5k and above, probably cut upper mids and dubbify the low mids, both pickups on full, tone half, compress the hell out of it, more of a yo yo yo tone than a Toe Toe Toe sound.

Best reply yet! Thank you! That sounds exactly the tone I'm looking for. Like a dub, sine wave kind of thing. Any other pointers?

Experiment like Jimmy said. Tell soundman what you're after. Don't cut too much of upper mids. Listen from out front. Point out the lack of clank before soundguy dials more in. Learn to play synthesiser

Use your ears during sound check (you will have one, right? New venue and all that.). Jimmy had it right in his post; we can't tell you how to set the controls, we won't be there.
