ToneStyler on a Gretsch G2220

So I'm interested in this ToneStyler device. Can anyone give me first hand knowledge of what it does to your tone and if it's worth purchasing? I'd be putting it in a Gretsch Electromatic Junior Jet G2220 and I'm curious about how it would improve the bass...

10 different settings , I just did a quick sloppy test of some well executed farts , 3 passes each then I switched to the next eq click one up . 10 times so hang in there

I started on the bass setting from left to right bass to "no load " tone pot on the other end . The click before no load is "normal" with tone pot full up as a stock eq setting . But already in "bass" mode it's way more musical and dialed in that just rolling the tone down on a p . Easy way to get many cool & usable toans in a P . and some poopy maybe

Very cool Fretno, thanks for posting. I've been a bit curious how it sounds outside of a Stellartone rep playing it!

I like it a lot , especially live . For me it's waaaay better than a stock tone control . I'd put more of them in if they weren't so spendy , but highly recommended ..especially for your main gig axe .

My gripe with these types of controls (they're easy and cheap to make, by the way), is that quite a few of the settings have an undesirable (to my ear) midrange honk, regardless of the bass they're in. But putting small resistors (maybe 6-8K Ohms) in series with some of the caps (or just one resistor in series with the entire Tonestyler) tames those resonant peaks. Here's a good before/after demo:

Ok, very cool demo! I’m just getting into moding and my soldering skills are a little sloppy at this point but I love the idea! I’ll play with it. IYO, should I do anything different on a dual humbucker with a pick up selector?

I'd try a handful of different caps to see what makes good sounds; if any of them sound honky, knock back the mid peaks with resistors. That's about it. By the way, an easy way to audition caps without opening up your bass: unscrew the barrel on one end of your instrument cable, put test leads (alligator clip leads) on the exposed hot and ground lugs, and put the cap you're testing between them.

Tonestylers like to see a ton of signal.
Consider switching your vol pots to 1meg.
Don't worry, you'll get the equivalent to 500k and 250k lots as you spin it.

I like mine in my J5, I have a parts P I'll get around to finishing that should be as wide in tonal options.
