Too many basses guilt

This hit me like a ton of bricks last night and now unsure what I want to do. I hooked up with a cover band that does everthing in the key it was recorded it. IMO thats stupid and it forced me to buy a few basses which was fun at the time. I bought and modded a mim Jazz. I bought a Lakland 44-01 and a Peavey Fury5 and loaded it with EMG 45DC & EMG 3 band eq with sweepable mids. A Peavey Cirrus5 and building a modern jazz with EMG 40dc and eq with Modulas neck. Being routed right now. I did this because I am mostly a 4stg guy so I needed a 4st for standard and half step and a 5stg for both as well.

Now I fell in love with my Cirrus 5stg and when a fellow tb'er offered me his Cirrus 5 in walnut at an awesome price I jumped at it. Now I only need to take 2 out which leaves a Peavey Cirrus 4stg, a Lakland 44-01, a Fender Jazz, a Modulus Jazz and Peavey fury 5 collecting dust. +

I will try the 2 basses at a show to see if I like it but I have already gone through our set list at home with no issues. So there might be a bunch of stuff up for sale lol.

Ok I don't get it. Why would you get a lot of basses to play in different keys?

Can't you tune differently?

I for instance was wondering about certain Journey bass lines until I read Valory's Wikipedia page that he was using a BEAD tuning (face slap followed).

Actually I only needed to 2 5stgs and 2 4stgs. The other 3 basses was me going overboard. I was using the Fender for the 4stg half step and replaced that with the Lakland and I was using the 5stg PV Fury and replaced that with the 5stg Cirrus. The Modulus I just wanted. Now that I have found a 5strg I love I don't have a need for the others. I never thought I would find a 5'er that I liked so much.

One; There's never too many basses, until you start getting duplicates of ones you already own. I mean how many of what colors do you really need? Next; Man I wish I had your budget! I get a call from a band best I can do is maybe upgrade my strings!! I will admit I have at least one of most configs,so strings is all I usually need. But? Good work man!

I know what you mean. I can't believe that no company had developped a 1/2 or 1 full step down pedal de-tuner that sounds unprocessed. I try it sometimes with multi fx, but really looses a lot of sweet bass tone.
