From what I remember I think the guy had a Steinberger. I remember thinking he used a chorus and reverb. Thats what it sounded like to me.

I just read that he used a Wal. I don't know where I got Steinberger from.

On VH-1's Bands Reunited, it looked like Nick Beggs was using a Fender Jazz...he had it sounding pretty decent in a live setting.

I've seen him do it live on various basses - I think it's more down to his technique than any combination of bass/effects - he has a unique style that you can hear straight away - great player! :)

    Agreed!
I used to have whatever album Too Shy was on. I had it on cassette tape and I would listen to it while I was working.
I couldn't afford a real Walkman but I had a Walkman style cassette player.

I remember when this song was new and the video was on alot. I think he's playing a Wal in it.

  8. I thought it was a stingray....

Prime example of the good bassist in a horrific band.

    :bag:
    Bring it on, Kajagoogoo fanatics!!!

Yeah - I saw him play Wal, Fender and a white MusicMan in the 80s - but he always sounded the same - he also played a Chapman Stick.

There's no way you can just buy a pedal and sound like Nick Beggs!! :D

I read a cool quote from him regarding this. He said, "Everytime some bass purist slags off my old band, I tell them that even today, I'm crying all the way to the bank!" :bassist:

Actually ALL the musicians in that band are phenominal, I wont say that for the material they produced however, I like ed the first album.

Not that it matters. But I seem to remember him playing a Pedulla bass in the "Too shy" video. Not exactly a one bass man

The drummer no lomger plays, though.
In the Bands Reunited show, VH-1 set the drummer up big time-
The drummer owns a sound reinforcement company...he rents equipment for shows, etc.
The show's host is talking about a certain '80 band that is uniting with all its ORIGINAL members...he tells the drummer-turned-businessman that the '80s band that's doing this reunion show is Kajagoogoo. The drummer acts uninterested; the host sez, "You have heard of them, right".
He replies with something like "Uh, no...who"?
Anyway, I guess you hadda see it...long story short-
The show went on with the drummer playing very rudimentary parts on electric drums.
The show also touched on how the lead singer wanted to stay the course with the Poppy '80s stuff...Beggs, guitar & keys dudes wanted to go off in a more musician-friendly vibe.
