Double Bass Too tight Bass bag?

Hi Guys!
So I recently bought a new double bass but the bag I have is tight around the bridge area. I don't think it can be a big problem but I wanna be sure.
Can a bag be too tight against the bridge?

Cheers, Simon

I have a full 4/4 bass that eventually needed a fitted case. The bass had violin style edging rather than the more usual Viol style tips on the face and back. The case kept knocking off pieces. There was some problem with the face sinking as well but i cannot say for certain that this was the fault of the case. In any case, I saved money in the long run by having Mooradian make me a custom fitted case.

How tight is it? Are you seeing any wear on the finish at points where the bass edging contacts the case? Are you seeing wear or tearing of the edging? These are all signs the case may be too small. I mean if you really have to apply shoe horn type techniques to get the case closed then you might be asking for trouble. You might also want to look at say Mooradian's chart for sizing a custom case and see if your bass is significantly over sized. If so, you might consider a larger case.

My cello bag is a bit snug there too, I can see the string rosin imprints on the fabric. I need to zip the case around the end pin and work the zipper a bit to get it around the side. But the bows fit in the pocket ok, it is heavily padded, and so a nice gig bag when a hard case will not fit the vehicle. I have had no problems with bridge moving, tuning pegs slipping, etc. and it is typically in tune when I remove the cello from the bag. But to be careful, I would not likely leave the cello zipped in the bag for days on end. Hope this helps, cheers.

Well It's nice and snug! I do have a little problem closing it but my bass has a flat back the case isn't stretching (maybe a little bit) just tight It's actually an oversized 3/4 bag (my 3/4 bass is way too loose in it) and my bass is 4/4 fits in nicely only the bridge is what's bugging me now but it's actually helping the bridge to stay in place. I had problems with my 3/4 bass in this bag, my perfectly cut bridge moved while transporting. Hope it helps

It's the same with me :) I won't leave the bass closed for more than a day :)
