Tool tone/FX sticky thread ver. 1

I think that's one of the main reasons that he's always running that Demeter direct tone! ;)

Yeah that is probably why he runs so many signals. And yeah I cant imagine if a cable or power supply or anything went down it would probably be such a mess. I worry about that happening with my board all the time. Mostly because all the wiring is such a mess underneath that if a problem happened I would never be able to figure it out on the fly haha

If power goes out for/on his board he still has a signal going to his rack that doesn't need power (as long as he has a battery in the tuner)

:)

Dry out into Radial splitter, ISO out to Demeter; Line out into pedalboard through effects back into splitter back out to Rat and EQ back to pedal board and through Line out 2 and back in. In simple terms: One dry signal, two lines through pedalboard, but one goes through the Rat and EQ. I also believe there is a splitter in the pedalboard post TU-2 because when he hits his tuner, it silences everything!

true bypass loopers are overrated, buffered loopers are fine. his basses are active, therefore he shouldn't suffer any signal loss.

+1. My Buzz Electronics Octo Looper has a switch to select true bypass/buffer, and that buffer is essential to kill some effects' annoying "pop" when turning them on/off.

Hello, guys. I’m a huge fan of TOOL music and JC’s sound as well. I made this panoramic view of Justin's pedalboard directly out of Dunlop TV video about a year ago. Just a little bit of color correction and vu-a-la! Hope my work will help you somehow.
You can also check my band’s music which was greatly influenced by TOOL: Invalid Link Removed

And thanks all of you for a great post! I've got a lot of new information here.

What is the pedal marked with the "???"? looks like a splitter. Who produce this pedal?

Thanks

I took this picture when they Played Bonnaroo in 2007:)

I'm glad it's become a solid reference piece.

hmm he didn't really say what's the purpose of it.. does it use for noise reduction or anything like it?
and also - If I'm trying to build a poor man's version of this rig - do you think I can use a pedal with two outputs as a splitter? I know the last effects of the clean channel don't have this option so I might need to change the order, but if I can make it work, can I give up the JD7?
