There’s some sort of pedal to the right side of his volume pedal now. So that’s new.
Found another good angle on Instagram. Can clearly see whatever low-profile expression pedal poking out at the very end. It would seem it’s where he lays his Wal at the end of the show as well.

Yeah it looks to me like there's a switch of some sort that lives on or near the main pedal board, which he brings out onto the stage to play Right in Two. Then for the rest of the songs, which don't require switching the tremolo on/off, he probably puts the switch back out of the way.

I have tickets for a show in March. I'm hoping it's better than the last time I saw them which was just a rehash of the dozens of shows I'd seen before. Maynard put more effort into promoting his wine than the performance, which was disappointing. I miss seeing them in small clubs sadly those days won't ever return unfortunately.

There’s a pretty good shot of his fancy footwork for this part on YouTube. It looks like he’s using both feet. Not sure what the right foot is hitting. Maybe the Boss Line Selector but it’s a little hard to tell.

I should’ve mentioned it’s at 1:30-1:45 timestamp.

You can tell it is a momentary switch (non-latching) look and listen to ~1:37-1:40, and the pedal is pretty thin.

Yep def. I zoomed in on that pic of yours. These could be possibilities

The FS-5U is what I had in mind when i saw it - which leaves me with the question of how he's incorporating it? has he thrown in a new signal loop with the FS capabilities a la MS-3 (or something similar) or just had his guyatone trem modded, or just replaced it with a more feature rich trem?
EDIT: it doesn't look like he replaced it, as it is clearly present in some of those instagram pictures.

I'm glad they are touring!

This show is very different song wise & visual wise from previous couple of tours. I think you’ll be pleased.

I was fortunate enough to catch the TOOL show last Friday in Colorado Springs. I had previously seen them one time at a festival back in 2018. It was awesome but it was a pretty short set. The show last Friday was the single most mind blowing musical performance I've ever seen. It is simply unbelievable to me how good they are live especially considering how complex their music is. I've been a TOOL fan for over twenty years. I'm actually extremely disappointed in myself for waiting so long to see them. The visuals were actually really cool too. I cannot recommend seeing them enough. I WILL be seeing them again.

Hello all,
Hoping to bringing it back to JC's signal chain. I have two questions:
1) Is the Overdriver (located immediately after the Rat/EQ pedals) always on as well?

2) For those using the Kinnatone Rat for this setup, would you mind sharing the settings you use? (EQ, Toggles, Blend)?

Thanks a plenty for taking the time.

Cheers,

The Overdriver is gone from the board since 2019 I believe. It was only used on one song - Flood I believe. So not always on.

You're probably right, I understood from that old rig rundown video that all pedals on that specific chain are "always on" and I do get the sense that having it on with those settings would get one closer his tone than with it off. Aside from that I swear I hear it on throughout the entire breakdown on 7empest! Thanks!

Yeah it is likely the tone bender or Sansamp you’re hearing on Tempest. In all the interviews surrounding the FI release there’s no mention of anything but the tone bender or GT2 for distortions. Also it’s misleading but I believe that Overdriver pedal is actually in the pedal chain with all the rest of his fx (whammy, modulation, fuzz, wahs, etc.) rather than after the Boss Bass EQ. That spot on his board is sort of a place to add on things. As seen in this photo from 2019-2020, where an extra Boss DD3 is in its place.
