I really love Geddy's tone on Exit...Stage Left. Probably my favorite of his, so thick yet cuts through so well.
I really like the bass tone on a lot of Elton John stuff, But i'm not a huge fan and don't know who played on what.

I guess the common denominator is ample ass end, with lots of mids as well. When you can hear the bass part really clearly, it just adds so much more of a counterpoint to a tune.. makes the entire piece more complex and interesting. I know you can hear most any bass line if you listen, but I for one don't mind being hit over the head with it.
