You need to "reign it in" a little here. *** does "top Ten high end bass guitars available" mean.

In this type of discussion we need to either be talking about selling price, production/sales number or percentage of market, or the best type of bass for a specific genre or reason.

Music varies from Bach to Beastie Boys(and far beyond).... and those guys both like different basses.

I've never played a "high end" bass. I've noodled on Victor Wooten's Fodera unplugged, but that's as close I've I've ever gotten to a high end bass.

I just received a turner ren 6 fretless for under 2k that I am really impressed with. I would stack that against most of what people would consider high end. But I don't think most would consider it "high end"...

Possibly. However, prices in production instruments have skyrocketed in the past few years. I paid $1800 for my Bongo, for example, so good luck finding a reputable builder to provide something custom for that ballpark.

At $1500 you just knocked out every builder listed so far. Try to find a bargain on a used bass if "boutique" is what you're looking for ....
