I don't own a Torzal Twist Bass, but I'm seriously considering one. So, those of you who own one
can you chime in and give me your thoughts on owning and gigging with one. Their very expensive
$8,000.00 for a 5 string neck through. I'd like to hear what you folks have to say, and if there's anyone close to St. Louis, Missouri who owns one. Many Thanks

@Ric Vice If you search Torzal you’ll get a few threads with some other owners here on TB. I purchased mine back in 2010 and have been enjoying it since.

What’re you expecting and/or hoping to get out of owning and playing one?

OK, I have one, and it is the best damn bass I have ever played. Somewhere on TB there is a review I wrote back in 2017?? Anyway, i rave and fawn over the design, because it actually works.
It is stiff, yet light, and makes playing at the first fret much easier.

This was at the bottom of the latest Torzal newsletter. It's an interesting approach to getting the Torzal feature-set at a lower price point.

"With a show of hands (or an email), who would be interested in a $1500 20° twist Torzal 4-string? Here’s the deal: I have often made Torzal retrofit necks for other bolt-on bodies (Fender, Ibanez, Tobias, Music Man, etc) as a lower cost way for people to benefit from the ergonomic design, but every time it’s a one-off custom job and requires 2-way shipping. To streamline the process, I chose the Ibanez GSR200 model bass and developed production processes to make 20° Natural Twist necks for these basses. So for $1500 you can get a complete bass, set up and ready to rock with a Torzal neck on an Ibanez body. This is a fantastic bass for the price. It comes with a PJ pickup configuration and is available in black, jewel blue, transparent red, pearl white, soda blue, walnut flat, and charcoal brown burst."

That's pretty frickin cool. If I hadn't just moved and everything, I'd absolutely be trying to snatch up one of these Torzal'banez basses.

Indeed. Jerome sent another group email this weekend. and I asked to be put on the build list for one. I have one of his basses, and the necks have impeccable build quality.

The nice thing about this bass is that it's a great platform for upgrade.

If that reach at the end is giving you trouble with your left hand, this is a great solution.

I finally caught up with him and it turns out that yes, the Ibanez Torzals are very much a thing - he just got busy with orders and put that project on the back burner for a while. But apparently he has a few of those on hand that could go out if someone wants them. If you're interested just reach out to him Torzal Guitars — Contact or give him a call - if you want one I'm sure he can make it happen!
