Wow, as I finished that last post above here on the side porch, I watched a squirrel bury something in the little loose dirt at the bottom of these stairs >

I switched on my camera to get a pic, and he suddenly proceeded up the stairs faster than I can focus, right to the very top within a few feet of me >

If this one is part of the family that lives in the massive tree in our front yard, I've seen them get pretty confrontational with my cat who's 13 and not as quick as she used to be.

In that quick 5 seconds we were face to face, all I could think of was him saying "now that you've seen where I buried that nut, I'm gonna have to kill you"

After banging around on this thing for almost a year is when I made my first and only upgrade. I read here on TB how lots of folks are sorry that they parted with their starter, so I decided to customize and keep it as my backup/travel beater >^..^<

Here is my Yamaha beater beach bass. It even once fell in the ocean when were unloading gear from a boat to the beach. Just rinsed it off with fresh water then dried out the electronics with WD-40. It is very light weight, perfectly balanced and very comfortable to play. Thank God for beater basses.

Yea I've seen a pic of that before here, very nice. Not many TBers can say their bass fell into the pacific Ocean, I bet How did you "dry the electronics with WD40" ???

Edit: I know the WD stands for water displacement, but in my head it would make things all greasy

The good news was there was a rusty can of WD-40 on the boat or I think I would have been SOL. I just applied the WD-40 to the pods, pickups, tuners and strings. Yep, it was easy to slide my fretting fingers down the strings with WD-40 residue on them. Kind of like that Finger Ease spray on stuff you can buy at the music store. That said, when you have a gig, especially when in a secluded place, you got to make do with whatever resources you can muster up.

You may be right. The squirrels around here have been decidedly more brazen and confrontational this year, and I'm not the only one who has noticed. The last time I was in our local sporting goods store, there was a crowd of people around the airgun counter, and a lot of empty spaces on the racks and shelves. I asked a clerk what the hubbub was about, and he said, "It's the squirrels, man! They're really bad this year!"

I liked the way these damaged sidewalks showed off their colorful stones that lie just under their more bland finished surface.

That was actually the exchange between Mrs. Winslow & me when she walked into the kitchen as I was making that particular batch of muffins. Of course, I said it without shouting or an implied threat. But we both found it amusing enough that I thought, "Well, now I have to caption it."
