I did a day hike today in a new place. Only in PA do you see weird names like this:

There wasn't a ton of pretty scenery, since it was low-contrast and cold. And boggy.

The trail led us right onto a beaver dam. Its lodge is just right of center in the pic. They're kind of cool to see, but every time I've run across one, they always make the trail a muddy, near-impassable disaster. Just upstream from the dam is a submerged bridge. Thanks a lot, stupid beaver. You suck. No wonder early settlers shot your ancestors.

My buddy nearly went into the drink.

The name of the trail is Wolf Rocks. The actual rocks were kind of disappointing, and covered pretty terribly with spray paint. Seriously, who does this in a state park?

I know where I'd shove a spray paint can or two, if I caught a vandal doing this.

But it was nice to get out for a change. I'm looking forward to a longer, warmer, prettier hike in the near future.

#37 is my Uncle in his 80s with an Ossa engine and a Greeves frame that he built. He used to race 6 day off road events with the Greeves. They weigh a ton!
