Lazing on the patio as calm Friday evening is settling in. Took these photos of this unknown aloe plant my wife inherited from a neighbor who passed away. The early spring weather is making its colors brighten up.

They really are. And they're supposed to be delicious... Will know soon.
I've always thought of mushrooms as "kinda vegetables" even though I knew that fungi were not veggies... But really they are a completely separate kingdom, as far removed from "plants" (and animals) as plants are from animals.
And the current research about the micorrhizal network (the fungal network through which trees and other plants communicate) is pretty wild.

Speaking of fungi....saw this weird cluster today on a neighbor's lawn. Popped up almost overnight. It appears to be several various ones mysteriously gathered together in a small space (car keys added for scale). No other shrooms on their property, just a grass lawn. The bright red flower-looking thing is kinda creepy.

Last year’s big storms hit this big Douglas Fir and it started to topple but got snagged on another big tree. This year’s storms brought it down.
