tough decisions...

I love these LM heads. But I am facing some tough decisions. I have about $1500 to spend on my setup.

Here's the options I have laid out for myself. All include the LMIII head. Current basses are Ibanez artcore and gretsch electromatic solid body.

1-2 MB 8ohm 2x10 cabs.

2-1 bergantino 8 ohm 2x10 cab and tech 21 bddi (another cab later)

3-MB 2x10 and MB 1x15 8 ohm each

4-same as option 2 but with MB cab

5-other suggestions welcome.

I play in a heavier alt country band with a tasteful drummer. We are currently recording. Our live gigs include all possibilities....backline only for sound at times, FOH support with DI inside and outside. I want a do it all rig.

I am leaning toward the options with the BDDI.

thought of that one but it may be a bit much for some of these smaller gigs. I am looking at the ability to be very flexible.

Too much? Never. Just use the volume control. Having more than enough ensure's you never have too little.

the debate would then lay between the extra money for the bigger cab or the extra money for the BDDI. The BDDI seems pretty important for the gigs where i go DI. I want the programmable BDDI with 6 spaced for saved settings.

then i face the temptation to just say screw the amp and buy the lakland i've had my eye on

Get the Lakland.

small gigs and rehearsal Fender rumble 100 15

i also have a rental traynor db 200 15 that i used for a big gig the other day

there is a possibility of a compromise here.

buy the used lakland and a midrange 2x10 combo such as a
line 6 2x10
marshall mb4210
ashdown mag410
all those would leave room for an extension later

I am just sick of upgrading in small steps. I want top quality bass and top quality rig.

A good amp will make a cheap bass sound good. A poor amp will make a great bass sound poor.

I use the 2x10 format but I would never gig with just one. A pair stacked vertically is perfect.

I'm a country player too, and of the options that you have, I'd go with 3. I think with a 210, you would like the 115 with it However! I would get a 410 with a 115. Thats my suggestion. I know you said taht a 410 may be too much, but I think it's better to have more than you need.
