Hi there,

just noticed in a recent video with Doug Wimbish the amp and cabinets in the background
anyone knows this design from the amp? is it new or custom or and old version?
cabinets also seems different, than the old he used on stage.

Must be new. This looks nothing like the classic TE gear.

Here's a decent grab from the video.

Never seen any TE amps or cabs that look like these. Looks like 410 on top with staggered driver placement. I am guessing the bottom is a 212.

The head looks like it has a digital graphic EQ, but that is just a trick from the light shining off a glossy black surface.

Here are some shots that show about 2/3rds of the amp.

The rig rundown and other recent videos show a Peavey era AH1200...but this is not an AH1200. Looks like a two channel design.

Maybe these are prototypes he is testing?

Nothing of that significance in the TE website, Sweetwater, GC etc.
Certainly a more impressive line than Elf and mini cabs they're trying to sell.
Maybe you have to get an endorsement deal to get the real gear.

Lol! Another Peavey-TE thread! You can never have too much TE Love!

I noticed that Peavey has killed off virtually all of the PVH bass cabinets they released in the last 5 years, including that monster 2x12 cabinet. They now only show the two Headliner cabinets on their website.

Maybe Peavey is going to make TE their big bass label going forward?

So, a TE-1200 head.
I see gain, output, bass, treble and a set of kn ow that are unclear. Either a semi parametric or a dual comp.

That head looks like it's dual-channel, in which case it's relatively minimalist...unless the two channels are blendable like the old T-Max, not just switchable, which would force me to find one and try it out!

*Sigh* I was crossing fingers for a graphic eq… hopefully it will have an effect loop with switchable hi-pass again.

A graphic EQ would be cool, but looking forward to whatever this turns out to be. Was looking at a NOS TE head, but is 50 lbs correct for the head? 600W, 7 band. TE was my dream rig when I was in the Army just starting to play. Way beyond what I could afford and then there was the 220V versus 110V issue since I was in Germany. So I never pulled the trigger.

50lbs absolutely sounds right for a Trace-Elliot head. IMO worth every pound, plus at least a few more.

AFAIK most if not all of the old TE heads could be set up for US or EU voltage. It's just matter of swapping a few taps on the power transformer and installing a new fuse. Some even had switches, so it was not even necessary to open up the amp.

I used an AH350 for few years in Germany. Here's what the back looked like (not my amp):

Notice the voltage selector on the middle left and the mains fuse holder below it.

I thought the AH350 was a fabulous sounding head. The controls on the one I played were a bit glitchy (from use) and it seemed really, really heavy. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to buying an amp, TE was pretty much gone from the US market.

My RAH600SMX from the mid-90's was well north of 50lbs. Add weight for a 6 space rack and Korg tuner and I wasn't interested in hauling it anymore. Still sounded amazing but Sold it on consignment a few years ago.

I'm intrigued with a new take on the classic TE sound for sure.

If someone comes up with an AHnnn-type sound in a class-D package, I'll trip over myself trying to get my credit card out. Or a few liters of blood. Whatever. I'll take it!
