Trace Elliot is stepping up...By going small.....

I pre-ordered the Trace Elliot Transit B Bass Preamp Pedal a few months ago from GC but it's still listed as out of stock. I'm hoping they start shipping now that it's June as I have a 4th of July gig that I need this for and might be tempted to go in another direction if this isn't in my hands soon!

I am waiting on the Transit B as well. Musicians Friend is showing they are expecting them July 10th.

I mean nothing negative about Peavey by saying this. Thinking that this item is connected to the long line of British amps would be an error.

I am waiting on the Transit B as well. Musicians Friend is showing they are expecting them July 10th.

That means I'll have to go with something else for my 4th of July gig.

I'll still give it a try another time though.

yes and no. They have apparently done a good job in carrying forward the essential elements of Trace in your face bass tone, which is what we were asking for when the Peavey guy came knocking on TB's door. It was a long time coming.

Not to offend Peavey or what they are doing with the brand Trace Elliot they bought especially, but for me this is a general problem of our economic system. I think it shouldn't be legal that companies are bought by other companies and keep the name of the brand. If a product is made by Peavey it should say loud and clear Peavey. Many customers of many brands still think they are buying products of a small or family owned company and don't have a clue that just some global acting hedge fond has bought this brand long ago.
If the product speaks for itself they could sell it under their own brand name.

Obviously someone was listening even if so, much like many other brands bought up cut price, or even full price. It's not as if Trace fandom died while the ownership changed until virtually given away as a dead duck. Go Peavey! Long live Trace Elliot!

That's just marketing hype and has absolutely nothing to do with the product, best to skip over it and go straight to the technical spec, usually on the last page.

It seems like a really silly product to me, given there's already products that easily do what it's offering. So to me, 200 watts peak and a 3 band EQ? Next.

Instant Classic referred to the 2x8 cab. Big call to be sure. But Tom Bowlus rates them highly so they may just take over the backline plus vocal PA market, which is really the entire market if the wannabe rockstars would give over on stadium rigs indoors and let PA do the work.

I don't think Rolls-Royce engines got taken over. Not yet, anyway, although it does work closely with General Electric on some products.

It depends, with one or two small cabs it would be perfect for an acoustic project I have joined.
For my regular band where my rig carries the house 95% of the time (including some outdoor shows) no it wouldn't be suitable - horses for courses.

As for a 10 band EQ - some want that, some want basic tone shaping options, others leave the controls at noon. You cannot please everyone 100% of the time.

My guess is that TE (Peavey) have identified a niche. Time will tell whether they got it right or you did.
(I'm not a betting man but if I were I know who my money would be on!)

10 band EQ would be handy for tuning to a room, although you could achieve that with a single combination button-knob if needs be.

They are still a British company based in Britain, in spite of the ownership... although obviously the original TE team now run Ashdown.

The product as an idea isn't a bad one, I just feel the more you pull from a product, wattage, tone tools, etc, the more the player ends up having to supplement. Personally I don't have a graphic EQ myself, just a 3 band with shiftable mid and presence, but I know if I want "more", the only way I'm getting it through that amp is better EQ or a better instrument than what I've got. The basics can do a lot but they're still just the rudiments, theoretically.
