Trace Elliot RAH600SMX Buzzing.

I've recently bought a RAG600SMX and I absolutely love it. To start off with I've just been jamming quietly in my room through my Ashdown ABM 410H.

The problem is that there is a back round buzz which is really prominent when you start to boost the volume.

The buzzing is consistent. It's the same whether you have low input gain and high output gain, vice versa or with both gains boosted.

So I can't determine which stage the problem could be occurring at. All the inputs and outputs seem good so I'm a bit stumped.

The head itself is about 18 years old.

Any advice would be greatly welcomed.

Thanks

To reduce hiss to a minimum set up the input gain as per the manual and run with minimum eq and no mid cut etc.
use the master as the volume do not reduce the bass guitar
volume level unless you suspect the onboard electronics are distorting, if its active.
Keep the bass guitar eq on or very near the center ident's IE flat
and change the battery in the bass.
