I have heard a few stories about neck problems with Geddy Lees. Mine is an early one, and it is rock solid. I usually just have to adjust it once or twice a year due to seasonal climate changes.
I think you did a good thing, BDR. The MIM Jazz is a decent bass, but the Geddy Lee is a solid, pro level bass. I have gigged many times with mine. It has a sound that is difficult to get in a lot of newer J's I have played. And if you like slim necks, there is none slimmer than this one!
