Double Bass Trade Pjb super flightcase for flightcase?

I recently purchased a superflight case from PJB, and it is awesome! The sound is great, clear, such an upgrade from my markbass! I've had it now on 10 or so gigs, small to large. I haven't turned it up really past half way or so except for big band.
It's a LOT of amp to be carrying around, but i wanted enough power for a 4tet or 5tet gig in a bigger room (with drums). Could the regular Flight case handle this too? Iam thinking I'd be might be better off with the flight case for most gigs and send it to the house if need be or bring the markbass in the very rare circumstance of loud upright gig without pa support.... any advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you

I bought a Flightcase earlier this summer. Played on a handful of gigs so far. I have not close to running out of headroom yet, although on a larger outdoor thing I can see where it might. This is bluegrass, all acoustic instruments miked through PA. So far so good.

I love the sound of my upright through both the Super Flightcase and the Flightcase, and for a while I owned both. I came to the conclusion you are thinking. The Flightcase is all I need for most gigs and for the bigger rooms with PA support, I send a signal to the FOH via the excellent DI on the Flightcase. I eventually sold the Super Flightcase - just didn't need or use it very often.

After playing this amp more, it really is great with drums, and can even hang w a loud blues bar band w upright, and big band- and I'd consider my loudest upright gigs.
I do see where a smaller amp would be nice for anything without drums. I did just have it (sfc) next to a qsc, and they're almost the same size. Just that the superflight cases seem so big for the average gig.
I had the sfc on a recent doubling gig, outside 150 people 4pc guitar/ vocal, keys/ vocal, drums & bass; dinner/ background jazz 2 sets, dance/ electric bass 3rd set. Awesome for the first two upright sets, clear, not boomy.. I don't think anything smaller would have done the trick (no pa for me) but with electric the sfc didn't put out enough.
