Translucent Sonic Blue

Hi All! I am currently in the final stages of my first refinish and am now looking to the future for my next build. For this one, I started from a fully finished Squier Jaguar. For my next project, I am wanting to take something from the raw wood up. I am looking to due a translucent Sonic Blue finish on either a Jazz or Jaguar type. I have read a few posts/threads about how to create the Translucent Sonic Blue and accentuate the grain and whatnot, but I have a question.

Where might I be able to buy Sonic Blue lacquer that I can possibly thin with clear to help me achieve the finish?

It’s been years since I’ve done finished, but I did this very thing with Reranch sonic blue thinner with clear over swamp ash.

That is a sweet looking finish. Do you happen to remember the ratios you used? Also, did you use a dark grain fill or clear? Thanks so much for any help and also a little inspiration.

I used a darker grain fill. I think I started with 2 parts clear 1 part color, but I used a cheap preval sprayer. I did others using a gun and I used a 1:1 mix.

It can be helpful to start with a lighter mix. Then you can build up the color slowly with more control avoiding streaks.
