I was just wondering if when putting speakers in a car, you put the speaker side up or down? I usually put it up, but I get worried because my speakers roll around in the back. I have a Dodge Caliber, so I usually fold down the 2nd row of seats. The only other thing I was thinking was that I should place them like monitors (they are RCF ART 312As). Because they are powered speakers, I am worried because I don't want to damage anything. Thanks for the help!

Transporting PA Speakers

Back when I carried stuff in cars, I would put down a blanket to protect teh grill, then put them face down. The face is usually the widest part of the cab. If they are nice, put them in bags and don't worry about it! Use tiedowns to hold them in place. For your safety, nothing should really be loose in your car if you can help it.

I transport my powered PA mains in the back of my car, situated upright (as they are on stands) and both of them wedge into the back of my Subaru Outback quite snugly along with either one of my bass cabs. I have speaker covers for both of them, and they still look brand new despite having gone to at least 100 gigs.
In your case, a couple of moving blankets might keep them from rolling around. Also moving blankets can be great for covering up gear between shows on a two-night gig.

In theory, it should be face down, as in that position the weight of the magnets are working against the basket and horn in the way that they are the strongest.
