Double Bass Travelling with a DB

I have a well used and abused DB that I play for fun. I have just managed to get a huge padded case for it (after 8 years!) but it takes up most of the car. I am thinking about buying an open camping type trailer to put the case in. It might fit in a 6ft x 4ft trailer, or smaller if I cut down one of the ends of the trailer. I am planning on towing it behind a Citroen 2CV so I need to look for a lightweight solution as the car can only tow 240Kgs in total. Has anyone else tried putting their DB in a trailer?

Getting it in the 2CV in its case would be a feat as it is a little too large! One of the reasons I want to take it with me (apart from the gig) is to get a 5 piece band actually in the car by removing seats and doors etc, standing up and actually playing music while driving (not on a road). Guitars & DB can be played standing up while the driver sings into a lapel mic portable PA and the drummer plays a Kuhon he is sitting on. Should be a laugh if it works!
