Double Bass Traynor SB 200h

Any thoughts on this amp? How does it compare to the GK 200MB Micro heads? Used to own the the GK 200 combo in the 80's-90's.I really enjoyed how EQ was voiced for the upright. Sold it many years ago, but tried an old GK other day paired with a Red Eye. sounded nice! So looking for small head like the Micro or maybe the 200h ,paired with my MAS speakers...
These seem reasonably priced also.

I have the combo version of the SB 200 the SB 106 it has a lot in common with the two GK 200MB's I used to own. Metal cabinet, super light, extremely light (12 lbs) Just do not engage thelow expander with Double Bass. It's great with duos, trios, and quartets (provided the drummer is a musician) The RMS Power rating is calculated at 4 Ohms( the internal Jensen/Sica 6.5" driver found in my SB 106 combo is 8 Ohms) . So you have to decrease the 200 watt output power to @ 126 watts if you’re using an 8 Ohm cab . ( my SB 106 is @ 66 watts) By comparison the 200MB was @ 80 watts RMS The 200MB and the SB106 have IME a very similar sound.

I‘m pretty sure the SB 200H is the same amp that is used in the small traynor combos up to 200 watts.
The reason that some of the combos have a lower wattage is the impedance of the speakers and how far they can be loaded.

I keep an SB200H in my car as a backup. Super loud little amp.
I only play it about once a year (just to verify it's a working backup!) but it's always fun...

You are right. I thought the speaker in the SB 106 was 16 Ohms, but it is indeed 8 ohms. The SB 110 seems to have the same amp, whereas the SB112 seems to be very similar to the SB 200H.

I still think the basic design is the same. To be sure one can compare the schematics in the service manual.
Some things might have dropped due to space restrictions and the power amp might only do half the power, but it wouldn‘t make sense to do a completely different design for the series up to the 200 watts. The bigger 500 watts SB 500H clearly needs at least a different power amp.

I find it great that they offer to download the service manual. Any customer should get it, just in case if the company might be closed. Remember the sudden shutdown of Acoustic Image and the need of reverse engineering for the Walter Woods amps.

If I needed a new amp/combo, I might get the SB 200H and a 12“ cab, maybe a smaller one for quieter gigs.
But they don’t seem to be available in Europe, the Czech and Italian distributors mentioned on the Traynor website no longer mention Traynor products on their own websites.
A Genzler 350 watts head might be a good backup too.

But I‘m happy with what I have, only a small size backup amp might be nice to have. Played an open air gig with DB/Yamahiko, Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T and a Genz Benz Focus FCS-112 as extension speaker with a 11-piece Cuban-/Salsa-music band and had enough power left to get even louder than needed. But it was a smaller gig, not a bigger one with hundreds of dancers and listeners. Got a small amount of FOH support but not much.

I have only heard positives about the Traynor combos, and it is on my short list for a more portable rig. Around 1991, I purchased a Yorkville sound Bloc250B (part of the lineage) and it was a workhorse that was loaded with features.
