Traynor TC412: Why so cheap?

I'm looking for a cab to pair with my Streamliner 900. The Traynor TC412 is available for a song new and used, and I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with this cabinet, especially at stage volumes. The substantial discount on new cabinets at Canada's largest music store makes me raise an eyebrow, but there's not much information in the few threads out there that mention the TC412.

I'm particularly wondering if the low end is more open or tightly reined in. The STM 900 has a lot of natural boom.

Long and McQuade has awesome sales all the time, it's nothing to be afraid of...it's something to celebrate, enjoy, and take advantage of!!! I know this month there is a great financing deal in Traynor stuff, so maybe they have some sale prices in conjunction.

While I've never played through the 4x12 myself, everything Traynor I have played and used sounds outstanding. My Traynor TC112 (1x12) is a fabulous pairing with my GB Shuttle 6.0. I wish I was 20 again with an intact shoulder - if I was, I'd have a TC808 cabinet paired with either a Dynabass 800 head or a YBA-300. *sigh*

I agree with the suggestion to give it a try - the GB amps are so light, it's nothing to take it down and try it out. I've personally never had a problem with doing that at any L&MQ stores.

Hey Doc! I'm a staff member of a Long & Mcquade and was quite surprised to see the drop in price on the TC412. It's a hell of a cab for starters, light for its size, packed with Eminence drivers and the reason for the price when I asked the higher ups.......they made too many of them in one production run. So instead of warehousing the excess, they've decided to drop the price. I've gigged with this cab running it with an Aguilar db750 and it was great. Anyone in the market for a large cab should give this cab a whirl, its a great box at a great value..and a great size!!

Thanks for the responses. If I lived reasonably close to L&M I would never canvass for subjective info on TB, but Edmonton and Calgary are both a bit of a hike from where I live and I hate city driving.

I've had good experiences with Traynor gear in the past, but the Streamliner, she's a bit particular.

I love Traynor, but I am surprised that a 412 Neo cab weighs so much more than the non-Neo Aguilar. For the cost difference, I could schlep the extra pounds.

Actually.... According to both respective spec sheets, the Aguilar is about 36 pounds heavier. Not much, but just enough to save your back.... A bit....
