Another option is to slave the output of your YBA1 into a power amp to run your cabs. You'll have to use a dummy load or DI box that can take a tap off the output while loaded with a speaker cab.

For a number of reasons that kind of loses the magic of these amps.
I love old Traynor but honestly, those amps do not go low, and they do overdrive too quick for some folks. If I wasn't going for an overdriven vintage tone I wouldnt go anywhere near a YBA1, YBA1a or YBA3. There are other tube bass amps that represent low end better and don't get quite as fuzzy.

Yes it is but without a new power transformer there'll be very little gained.

At which point, it may be a good idea to consider something like a YBA200.or YBA300.

It isn't going take very much volume to cause a 45-watt head to break up. My first amp was a Fender Bassman 50. I hated it exactly for that reason. It's a great amp for a guitar player, but it's just too underpowered for bass.

I've got a pair of SED Winged C's in my Mark II (YBA-1A) and they're nice. I'm thinking of putting in some lower power preamp tubes to give me more throw to the volume knobs.

But, if it's too little power, it's too little power. If an efficient eight ohm 4x10 isn't doing it, you need to look at other options.

Great amps, though. I've owned a lot of early 70's Traynors. I still have three of them.
