TRAYNOR YBX1510 & TC1510

Sure man, although plenty of guys in here have plenty of better answers to offer.

The Traynor YBX1510 is a 400 watt cabinet at 4 ohms.
The Traynor TC1510 is virtually the same cabinet; however, it is a 600 watt cabinet at 4 ohms.

That is one main difference as far as my knowledge goes. As far as your head (this is where the other guys answer way better), it should be a great match, saying that the head itself will produce loads at 4 ohms. The YBX1510 seems as though it would be a closer match, due to it being 400 watts versus a 300 watt head; however, the 600 watt TC1510 is more of a powerhouse if you should ever decide to upgrade heads, or simply just push the same head through it. All in all, there should be no sound difference if that is what you are asking. Both cabinets will be relatively close as far as sound, but then again, the drivers are slightly different, due to them being able to handle a slightly lesser load (YBX1510 wattage wise).

Anyway, this is just my humble opinion!! Hope this helps!!

As you can see, the only difference between the two is the "program wattage handling". If you look at the speaker configuration it lists each drivers handling and they both match identically. Program power is pretty subjective and you can't really go by it. The matching head to the cab is the 200w all tube head though. Oh also the revised version is also 0.1lbs lighter wooooo haha.

Now personally, I've tried the cab and it wasn't my flavour, but if it suits you then cool. I currently use the XS800H.

Do we know that the drivers are 'in fact' unchanged? The information we have is insufficient to tell. Traynor told me that the new ones are all Eminence, but not which models. I can't find any drivers in the Eminence catalogue to match the modest handling power (150W and 225W) advertised for these. Were the old ones Eminence too?

Many manufacturers buy their drivers from Eminence, but they often use OEM variants tailored to their specifications, so you aren't likely to be able to determine much using that method. In any case, trying to divine what drivers were in the old cabs by comparing their published power handling specs wouldn't be particularly valid.

If you are wanting to replace/upgrade the drivers in your 1510, you should probably start from scratch -- determine the internal volumes of the sub-chambers and, if necessary, retune them to suit stock Eminence drivers whose T/S specs are published and well-known.

Edit: I forgot to say: maybe start your own thread about what you're trying to achieve with the 1510 rather than coat-tailing onto these ancient resurrections. Just sayin' :)

Can anyone tell me the difference, also can these things work with a SVT II 300 watt tube head

Cheers

There is no difference. I just asked Traynor and got this reply:

Hi (insert my name here). Here is the data on that bass cabinet. The YBX1510 was in production from March of 2004 to January of 2007 after which it was replaced by the TC1510 which uses the same bass drivers but was rated at 600Wpgm when we concluded it can safely handle that much power. The lower rating for the YBX1510 was overly conservative.

Some companies have returned to specifying "RMS" in power ratings. Our program ratings are accurate. We test our speaker prototypes with full advertised applied power on continuously for several hours with bass-heavy program material and some distortion. We also warranty our drivers for 2 years.

Hoping this answers your question. I have attached the service manual.”

I will speculate that part of the traynor warranty/reliability is a practice of underreporting power handling of their cabs. It sounds like their Program power is really a real world testing more akin to the intention of rms ratings.

p.s i know this is a wild resurrection but it always comes up in google searches so i am doing a favour by closing the loop with the correct answer.
