Treating edging on 3/4

[Charlie's Bass]

I have a 1977 Kay, 3/4, and the edging is continuing to chip and flake off. I'd like to protect this edging and I'm wondering what I can do to prevent further eroding of the edges. Is there a sealer or protective "something" that I can apply?
