Hello all! I literally just joined the forum a few minutes ago because I literally just bought my first very own bass yesterday afternoon. I've been a guitar player for almost 15 years now and for some reason that I can't understand, I've never owned are pursued the bass guitar...until now! I wouldn't lie when I say that it feels like I've crossed over to a different universe, magic wardrobe style. This would bring me to the motive of joining the forum: to connect and learn from the 'locals' sort-of-speak. I'm excited to be a minuscule part of the community here.
So here is the bass I got:
She's a weird one for sure! I got it for 100 bucks at a local pawn shop, and the employees said they had it for a while and didn't know anything about it except that it was beat up (to me:well played and loved..). So I plugged it in and it played satisfactorily to my ear and decided to go with it! I figured a made in U.S.A, potentially vintage bass is a steal for 100 bucks...I think it has emg select pickups (probably gonna upgrade, but don't know what..suggestions?) and the paint job is weird because it has a very subtle pink metallic undertone when shifted in the light...
I've tried to do a little research on it, but didn't really find much..this one is a bit of a mystery/anomaly...Something about a 'tension free neck'?? Could anyone help me out here? Does anyone recognize the body shape/brand/weird neck/bridge? I'm real curious about the company history too.. Maybe someones Frankenstein? Anyone know/guestimate on age? How about rough market value (score or $100 fail)? Any info on it would be much appreciated!
