For that price, it should come with his rotosound flats. I put a set on one of my p-bass and they arent too friendly to the neck. they are a heavy gauge flatwound which is pretty awesome tho!!

I really like Mr. Harris's take on strap technology. Food for thought right there.......

Each one of those is hand knitted. I can't remember who by though.

What I would really like to see is a Squier Steve Harris, or something at a lower price point but has the same Steve soul to it. I love Iron Maiden and Steve's bass work, but I could never, EVER justify spending over £1000 on a single bass.

If the Squier Steve Harris were to have:

the same neck profile, but with a basswood body (maybe even alder considering that Affinity models come with alder), white with the mirror guard, maple/maple neck, with maybe a Duncan design pickup (you're not gonna get Steve's new Duncan pup for the price point this would be at), maybe the new Fender BAII ripoff and the other CV or VM hardware

I would definitely buy it.

It does come with the Rotosound SH flatwounds, FYI.

The old one was in a great price range at around $400-$500.
Built well and had a nice neck. I wasn't too big on the sound though.

Why is this bass so expensive? It's a friggin' MIJ Precision Bass! I love the look, but I could build one myself for less than $700, and probably a lot less, and it would sound every bit as good as what is basically a standard P Bass with a Badass and Duncan. Drop some Duncans and a Badass in a Lake Placid Blue MiM, add a mirror pickguard and there you have it. I think paying over a grand for these basses is crazy. Where do they get off charging that much?

They can charge that much, plus the neck profile is completly different than the MIM offerings and the paint colour is a one off (not shared by anything else in the fender line). Japan is also probably not a whole lot cheaper than the US when it comes to labour. It isn't the 80's or even 90's anymore.

People are falling over themselves for made in Indonesia Laklands at pretty much a comparable price point (not hating on them, I had a Glaub which I loved).

First off, I have one and it is worth every penny. The quality on this bass is amazing, and far beyond a MiM standard P. It has tone unlike anything I've ever played. The blue is not Lake Placid Blue either, it's a custom Royal Blue Metallic. You really should play one before you make such comments.

I have played one. It's a standard P Bass with a few upgrades. I have an American Special with Basslines and a Babicz bridge that I paid $625 for used. It dusts the Harris for the price and is USA made. If the going rate for a Harris was more $500 range I'd say absolutely, but at over a grand...lunacy.
