Tried my first Ric, ever

People complain about the truss rods and the bridge . I've only adjusted my 4001 twice . Once when I got it somewhere between fifteen and twenty years ago , and once again last year . Very slight tweak last year . I have it set for medium low action . You can dig in without rattle . It's easy to play . Set up the 4000 after buying it this year and hope to get twenty years in before I have to touch it again too . My experience with the older style truss rods has been that they are incredibly stable . The bridge is a pain to adjust , but I haven't had to touch it since I set it . Not an issue .

Well in the spirit of total honesty I wish to share that today I fell in love with a Rickenbacker. It is a 1974 4001 Jetglo 4 string. I have hated every Ricky I've played in the past but this one really spoke to me and I wanted to take it home. Going to sleep on it and make a decision in the morning.

I had a 4001 as a kid and traded it away to buy an Aria Pro II SB-900. 37 years later I am the proud owner of a new 4003S in Mapleglo, delivered from Dave’s a couple of weeks ago. Pickup cover off, bezel installed. It’s great right out of the case. It’s a weird bass, and it’s easier to have one if you have other bass, but nothing sounds like it. I’m getting back into Yes and playing with a pick for the first time, and I’m having a blast with it.
