This was my very first build. I got a bunch of random parts off of ebay in high school/college and slapped them together. it was ok. i used a woodburner and put a bunch of celtic/gaelic designs on it, and it was unique and mine. I never really played it and thought I wanted something more polished. This was my monster in it's earlier and longest running phase.
sanded and disassembled, new neck ready for a float trip.
routed for the 3 pickups....why not.
no idea what the body was before, so no way to get a stock pickguard. it's a smaller body like a SS fender. So I had to route the neck pocket a bit and make it work for a 32" scale neck. I planned to use EMG's, so the battery route, but that P pickup went belly-up, so I went another direction. Got an excuse to buy a scroll saw, which i like.
and then the body was painted
and fast forward a bit, ordered some crazy rail jazz pickups, got it wired up with my super sweet new soldering iron
leveled frets
fast forward more...it's done! the pickups balance pretty well, and it sounds and plays as well as a solid squire. win win win win.
I like the look and it weighs 7.2lbs! each pickup has an on/off switch with master tone and volume. It'll get played.
I dig it. Hope you do too.
