Double Bass Troll Ribbon Mic

Since the troll ribbon is no longer made by the looks of it:
Are there any other ribbon mics which come closer in sound to the troll ribbon mic?
I don't know exactly about the "Troll"-Sound... but I like my ribbon-mic from Sandhill very much... and there others, who do so...;)

What preamp do you use with the Sandhill?

OT: I think at some point I will buy a pair of Sandhill mics. I've been very inspired by Robert Black's Possessed and I would like to do some recordings in different outdoor spaces and use the space as a collaborative improvisation partner like he does with Zion and Bryce canyons. I'm not a 100th of the player he is/was, but I would really enjoy it and enjoy recording it.

I've been hanging a NoHypeAudio CRM1 under the bridge. Using it mostly for recording but sometimes also sending it to a PA for sound reinforcement. I prefer the tone of this mic to the troll (which I now use as a kick drum or guitar amp mic). The CRM1 works well with either a good preamp, fethead or a Cloudlifter Z. The Germanium fetheads that I tried had a really inconsistent and noticeable noise floor. HPF is mandatory.

A friend of mine also gets great results with an Audiotechnica AT4081, a tiny active ribbon.

Ok but a Sandhill is 2000 USD and a troll ribbon 300. I am looking for an equivalent to the troll ribbon in the same price range…
I bought one of these and cut about 30mm off the bottom. It cost me around $250 USD. I posted pics of it one page back... https://www.talkbass.com/threads/troll-ribbon-mic.931425/page-16#post-27407824

I can't tell you if it sounds exactly like a Troll, but it sounds really great. I don't use it mounted on the DB as much anymore since I've gotten the Remic's (both green and red). However I use it frequently for recording DB on a mic stand, I've mic'd tube amps for guitar, live performance on grand piano, and probably a few other things I can't think of at the moment. I've been incredibly pleased with the performance and the sound.

Honestly, I'd say it sounds almost as good as the Remic Red, but with the sound rejection/bleed qualities of the Remic Green.

Pro tip- if you do go this route... find a machine shop to cut that 30mm off the bottom. It took me forever to cut it with tools I had available in the shop... then I had to clean up the cuts on a grinder. I would not recommend that process.

I have several ribbon mics - AEA R84 and R44, RCA 6204, Shure 333 and 300, Beyerdynamic M130, M160, and M500. I was not impressed with the Troll.
The only thing I didn't care for was suspending it from the bridge because of the weight. Made me hyper aware of how I was moving the bass around. Plus I always feel paranoid knocking a ribbon mic around while loading in and out. I do love using it as a secondary mic on the bass a little further away when recording.

The Remics weighs next to nothing and practically disappears on the bass when mounted. I wish I gigged more frequently in situations where I could get away with using them. So many loud players in my neck of the woods, with the exception of wallpaper gigs. I use the Remic 100% of the time on wallpaper gigs.
