Tronographic Rusty Box as an overdrive

lol. MAN. it was so damn hectic there. we just ran my board through my Aggy 212's and Kesslari's nEarful 16/5 cab. and his cab is a BEAST.

it was a blast, but we didn't end up with anything set to record. i'm sorry. failed on that.

but i DID hear it get pretty crunchy going into Kesslari's Genz Benz Streamline. i don't have a head with a preamp or i'd throw some clips together. i COULD run it before a SansAmp or ToneBone if you want. those are the only other pre's i have here right now.

Erukus does use his as an overdrive. let's keep poking him 'till he gets some clips up.

Behndy, since you use it as a preamp, how is it for heavy stuff? Like in the vein of Converge and Celan? I want to use it as a preamp for that both clean and overdriven.
Also, how does it sound with the Stache running into it? (dirty or clean) because I'd be using it like that a lot I assume

my main gripe is that the Boost doesn't work how i would do it if i had my druthers. i'd LOVE it if it had a separate knob for a gain/volume structure for that switch. so, for me, the HUGE boost that you get when you click it on makes it useless. but, that DID justify me spending way too much on a buncha OD's, so no big.

what i love about it is how easy it is to dial in a relatively clean tone that breaks up very usefully when you dig in a tad. or dig in a lot. it's a pretty versatile tone/dirt box.

lol the Stache.... that's just an unfair question. see, RyGuy made a pedal that just is pure fire win into ANYthing. for an angry, straight ahead, punch a baby in the face fuzz i LOVE the Stache. the Oxide gets a wider range of tones, the PPB with it'a crazy good clean blend gets tighter and grindier and the Year4545 just EXPLODES with noise/wacky possibilities. but for the Muff Sound how it SHOULD be done on bass? Ryan KILLED it.

fwiw Kurt from Converge/God City recently got one and was flipping out about how great it sounds. He was calling it the best bass pre he's ever heard, and that's coming from a guy who has spent a long time recording a whole lot of aggressive sounding bass rigs.

I know you're trying to keep this a bit under wraps, but considering the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, is this going to be an external pot or an internal trim pot?

More impotantly, will Tronographic being offering this option on future Rusty Boxes, or will this be a DIY affair?

Lastly, does anyone have an email address for Tronographic? I've PM'd them here on TB, but received no response after a couple of months. I'm thinking email would be the way to go, but I can't find an address on their site. I'm quite possibly just blind and missing it...

Strictly DIY. This is just a venture by me, wanting to add an external pot to adjust the boost.
The way it's designed, it might not be as good at reducing the boost as it will be for raising the boost.
It's just varying a resistor. Nothing too complicated about it.
They expressed concern about the functionality. They don't intend on making this available. I'm just a gearhead that, like most of us here, has an insatiable desire for MORE OPTIONS.
