Trouble in Band #2!

Who was expecting this?
So, we were voting on songs to play for an upcoming one hour festival type show and, just talking about the songs, and song choices in general, it became apparent that one member of the band doesn't care AT ALL about playing songs that people will know and/or are danceable. The other two guys, in varyiing degrees, agree with him. So I'm the odd man out. When we got together it was never discussed about what kind of band we would be, so I assumed a band that tries to, within reason, please the crowd, and get bookings...but apparently that isn't the case. So, this WILL be discussed and this is a band that I WILL quit if that is the direction they want to take.

Not sure about anyone else, but I kinda was…

No insult intended but it’s well known (via your posts) about your experiences with band drama….

The only thing worse is a DJ who plays the B-side song every time because he likes it and claims the crowd is not smart enough to recognize good music! :laugh:

So...you joined a band without any sort of conversation about what the aims were, and just assumed they'd want to play what you want?
Really?

I hate to say this but once again ( and yes I've read a lot of your posts about various band dramas) it seems to me that you're the problem here.

I honestly hope you'll take this as honest criticism but you need to be way more careful about setting out your ideas before committing.

Well, it is important this be established prior to the first rehearsal: otherwise, you end up in the situation you are now in, a lot of time and enegry wasted. My advice to you is quit now. If your band is not focused on entraining the audience, you will never be successful.

You can find the problem in the mirror. Yes it’s you. No one has the constant problems with band members that you have. Everyone else is wrong and you are right? Do you see the pattern here?
First of all you assume too much, never ask the right questions of fellow members before committing, and then come here to rant about it because nothing is going the way you want it to.
I would just love to read one of your posts where things were going great but until you realize and admit that quite possibly you’re the problem, your struggles will continue. That’s the best advice I can offer based on the countless posts by you that are nearly identical to this rant. I counted at least 10 of your posts about problems with bands / band members / BL in the past 11 months.

It's been my experience that decisions by committee NEVER work. You need to designate ONE band director and that person has final say on disagreements and the general direction of the band. If that system can't work, this probably isn't the right band for you. ✌️
