Troubleshoot Fender Rumble Bass Cab

Asking matter of fact questions to get to the source of the problem is not tactless. It is to help solve the problem a fast as possible. That's what people do working in a technical field - at least those that I've dealt with.

Try tightening every screw you can find on the cab: corners, handles, etc. I think the Rumble stuff can be very lightweight and may be susceptible to sympathetic vibrations that loosen things up. It's an easy place to start.

As a former network technician, this is exactly how I see it as well.
The number of times I worked on issues where people "tried everything" and "tested that already" only for it to work when we tried it again...
With experience, we don't blame the users - often there are little nuances they miss that more experienced people catch and are able to diagnose and fix.
The part where I would get irritated was when users would refuse to do those tests "again" and insist that they were right and just needed me to do _blank_ when I knew that was impossible.

In my perspective, TB is very fortunate to have agedhorse around as they have the knowledge and are not arrogant about sharing it.

I see this often.

People that have deep knowledge and are trying to help you often dispense with unnecessary words. To get to the actual point.

When I'm providing expert guidance at work I keep it as simple and direct as possible.

When I'm on the receiving end of actual expert guidance I don't want or need handholding and positive affirmations and emotional support. I'm happy to be getting real information undiluted with internet bullshirt and huckstering!

Also: short bbs replies lack other context, just like texts do. Physical cues, eye contact etc.

long way of saying: If someone is helping you, give them the benefit of the doubt!

By process of elimination I determined which 10" is bad. $130 to recone. $90 to $109 new from multiple places. I paid $200 for the whole new cab when new 10 years ago. It was on closeout and at the time it was really hard to find anything 4ohm. The cab and my Bass amp fit in the back of my Fiesta Hatchback snugly.

Wondering when the next one will fail. Don't want to keep throwing money at it.

Since using the 1 X15 JBL I think I would really like to go 15" if I get anything new. The 4 X 10 measures 23 x 25 x 14

I replaced the bad one w/new Eminence. It looks better than the other ones in the cab. The old one had no tears in the cone but I could see creases. The new one is made in America and I assume the other drivers were made is Asia as the cab was built in Viet Nam. Took picture of new and old. Sorry I did not take pictures of the front sides.

Just about the worst possible driver choice for your cabinet. The original drivers are a far better choice. This driver has MUCH lower sensitivity than any of the Rumble version drivers.

What is the nominal impedance of your cabinet? They were available in both 4 ohm and 8 ohm depending on the version and the market. If you have the 8 ohm version, you need the 8 ohm driver. If you have the 4 ohm version, it may use 16 ohm drivers wired in parallel.

It's a 4 ohm cab. I ordered Eminence Legend BP102-4 10" Bass Guitar Speaker, 200 Watts at 4 Ohms. Looks like they sent me a lead guitar speaker.

What do you think would be the best fit with the 3 other R410's?

Waiting for response from Eminence. Waiting on reply from Fender as well.

Is your cabinet 4 ohms or 8 ohms?

The BP-102 is the polar opposite of a lead guitar speaker.

Where are you getting your information from?

Best replacement is the original driver from Fender, it will need to be ordered through a Fender authorized service provider.

It has roughly 1/4 the sensitivity of the stock speakers and the electro-mechanical parameters are totally different as well.

What is the rated impedance of your cabinet???

How were the original drivers wired? Parallel or series-parallel?

What was the DC resistance of the original driver?

If your cabinet's drivers are wired all parallel, you have the wrong impedance driver too. I recall that the stock driver is 16 ohms.

Do not use your cabinet this way as you may damage any amp that's connected to it.

Really, try to find a factory correct stock driver before you damage your amp you.

I believe cabinet is wired series parallel. Waiting for fender support to confirm.
