TRS or 1/4 in cable???

ok so i have a sansamp preamp connected to a crown power amp to power my basson 8X10 Cabinet... should i use XLR to 1/4 inch or XLR to TRS? what is the difference between the TRS and 1/4 inch; and which one will sound better or no difference between the two?

Use whatever matches what's on the device.

First, TRS is a type of 1/4". TS is the other type. TRS is balanced or stereo, TS is unbalanced, mono, regular instrument cable.

TRS works the same as XLR. An XLR-TRS cable works the same as an XLR-XLR cable.

thanks for the info it helped alot. i tried looking through my sansamp manual to see if its a balance output for the 1/4 inch output and it does not say it is. i know the XLR outputs are balanced, so im assuming the 1/4inch outputs are balanced as well. (there are 2 the affected and unnafected)

maybe you know about this pre amp, its a sansamp rbi bass tube emulator rackmount. i think i should be fine with the TRS what do you think?

Looking at the manual, I would assume that the 1/4 outputs are NOT balanced, because of the mention that the XLR is.

I've used the Sansamp in the past, going into a Crest power amp, and would always used the XLR when I didn't have to go the board also.

I just use a T/S between my RPM and Crest CA-6 (nice pairing, BTW). The XLR / DI output will work as well but the XLR level control (on the front panel) becomes your volume control. Its all good.
