truss rod nut removal

Just bought a nice used squire precision 5 string. neck needs adjustment. Would like to install the best truss rod nut possible. My last attempt on my 4 string squire powdered the nut. It must have been made of soft aluminum. Could somebody give me a clue on the replacement. I don't know if it has R or L threads. Will the new one start easy? It seems to be close against the neck now. Also, 4th string buzzes open and 1st and 2nd frets. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The nuts on Squiers are only available thru Fender. You must have a Fender dealer order it for you. They are not aluminum, they are steel but smaller than regular Fenders. This is the same nut used by Ibanez and Cort. Read the info on proper truss rod adjustment technique and you will not have any future problems. If the nut is at the end of it's adjustment, you will have to put a spacer/washer on it to give it more threads. There is much info on this also. A proper setup should fix your buzzing problem.

Thank you Rocky McD. Hope they also sell the between size allen wrench. This time I will spring for the pro set-up. Last time was in the '70's and was big disappointment.
