Trust internal power amp crossover?

I sold off a lot of PA stuff and have been thinking about getting back into it. Before, I had a Bi-amped 2 way system (12'' tops/18'' subs) with an outboard crossover. I still have my cabinets and was looking into buying a single high powered amp with an internal crossover. Anyone use a setup like this?

The subs I have are Behringer boxes reloaded with Eminence drivers. I never looked into it, but these have a 150hz crossover built in. Thats an option (it they work.)

a passive crossover? yeah, you wanna bypass that entirely and split the signal before it hits the box. the one inside the power amp should be just fine.

'tis what it was put in the amp to do. I've done it both ways, oldfangled and new, sounds great but too much cab cartage to be worthwhile ime.

What's in the sub is actually a low pass filter. But you really don't want anything as high as 150 going to the subs. Most people cross the lows over around 80-100. Anything above that will just sound muddy.

real passive sub boxes don't have power-robbing passive crossovers in them. bypass that mess and wire the speakers directly to the jacks so you can use an active crossover upstream like you're supposed to.

The low pass filter is switchable . I've just never tried them. Could be an option in an emergency.

actually typically the cabinets are designed to work within the same series. so that if you do by the subs and tops that match and bi-amp them then you shouldn't really need a crossover as they are designed to work together to sound great (regardless of brand)...now in saying that i still do recommend using a crossover however i use a -bi-amped configuration and even the internal crossover on speakers...

That's what I was talking about at least. Powered subs that have an active crossover are a different story. Although I personally prefer to run my subs off an aux send. I really don't want acoustic guitar or vocals hitting the subs very much, if at all. But I digress.
