Trying something new.

I've been through a lot of strings in my day. I fell in love with D'Addarios a long long time ago and have never looked back. As a result I have a few new sets sitting on my shelve that I don't know what I'm going to do with.

Any ways I settled on Chromes for my Precision's and HalfRounds on my Jazzes.

I found that Alembic has what appears to be a HalfRound type string.

Now all my Basses are fivers.

I have a set of CX-3 5 string set on the way.

Has anyone tried them? What did ya think?

I'll put them on one of my Jazz Basses next string change. But all my Basses were re strung about 3/4 weeks ago so it may be awhile before I get to that point again.

They arrive Monday and will go into stock. I keep a couple of dozen spare sets on hand. But these will go to the front of the line.

Thought's? Opinions?

Are they good? Better? Best?

I found that Alembic has what appears to be a HalfRound type string.

Alembic's description says "a compressed wire with an elliptical profile". This is the exact opposite of the "rollerwound" process used for GHS Pressurewounds. Very different from "groundwound/half-round".

Dean Markley used to call it "Hyper-Elliptical Winding Process" used for their Helix line of bass strings (now discontinued).
